Pre and post event massage therapy.
As a sports person or athlete it is important to have pre and post event sports massage as a preventative measure. This is the ideal approach, rather than leaving it too late and using sports massage therapy as injury rehabilitation.You may be a professional athlete or an amateur training at a high level of intensity. Either way, you should be including deep tissue massage as part of your regular training regime, to improve your conditioning and enhance your performance.
Pre event massage
A pre event massage include techniques such as friction to create heat to warm up the superficial tissues. Compression to increase blood flow to the muscles. A range of motion of the joints to increase or decrease stiffness and gentle stretching to prepare muscles for the warm-up. The goal is to have the athlete prepared for the competition or sporting event.
Post event massage
Post event massage is provided immediately after the event or competition. This is done to decrease muscle soreness and/or cramping and to facilitate a faster return to training after an athletic event. Th goal is to decrease muscle stiffness and pain following sporting activities.
